Our new standard series models are made in a new joint venture factory set on more than five acres of land in Asia. The new factory began been built in the early part of 2001. The cost of funding the new factory was in excess of £2,000,000 ($3,000,000). By mid 2002 the work was completed and three Japanese Managers, who have had great experience in the art of building pianos, and more than thirty Korean technicians began manufacturing. The work force has many years of experience building pianos; Most have worked for major Piano companies including Steinway, Yamaha, Kawai, Young Chang and Samick.

Every quality Piano factory has had to strike the balance between automation and building by hand. The great opportunity of building a new factory on a virgin site is that you can create efficient workflow by incorporating the right machinery and systems from the outset. So many old factories have to up with poor machinery and inadequate infrastructure. Over two hundred specialist state of the art computer controlled machines and lathes were shipped in from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Italy and the United States. They do everything from precisely cutting to shape wooden parts of the cabinets to computer spray machines where polyester is applied in static charge booths. With the investment now in place, Charles Howes in Asia will produce the world's best value pianos for many years to come.
